The menu plans came from workshops presented by Diana and the late Paul von Welanetz over a period of three years at what was known as the von Welanetz cooking workshops at one of the most elite department store chains on the west coast. The store was Robinson’s, and its flagship store was located on Wilshire Boulevard, in Beverly Hills, California. This store was built in 1952 for Hollywood stars and the rich and famous, grew into an iconic Southern California chain. Robinson’s many stores merged with the May Company in 1992, and one of the great carriage-trade department store icons became only a memory. Read more
